Martin “Marty” Rieken
Funeral Director
A lifelong member of the Griswold community, Marty Rieken graduated from Griswold High School in 1993 before continuing his education at South Dakota State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in 1997. He then pursued his calling in funeral service at Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Wheeling, Illinois, graduating in 1998.
After gaining valuable experience at several funeral homes while at school in South Dakota, Illinois and Iowa, Marty and his wife, Kristy, returned home to invest in the community that shaped him. In 2001, they purchased Vieth Funeral Home from Alan and Suzanne Vieth. In 2012, they expanded their service to the region by purchasing Duhn Funeral Home, continuing their commitment to local families.
Marty and Kristy are the proud parents of five children — Kyler, Keaten, Kort, Kasper, and Maelie — and are deeply rooted in both their profession and their community.
Throughout his career, Marty has been a dedicated leader within the funeral service profession. He has been active in the Iowa Funeral Directors Association, serving as a past president of the board, and has chaired the Iowa Board of Mortuary Science. He also serves as past president of the International Conference of Funeral Service Examining Boards, the organization responsible for regulating the National Board Exam for funeral directors.
Closer to home, Marty remains actively involved in church and community organizations and is a familiar voice at Riverside athletic events — reflecting his lifelong dedication not only to his profession, but to the people and community he proudly serves.
