Zoe Ann Ruhl, the daughter of Max and Shirley JoAnn (McDonald) Miller, was born August 27, 1957, in St. Louis, MO.  Zoe died at her home in Griswold, IA, on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at the age of 66 years, 11 months, and 28 days.

Zoe was raised on the farm outside of Grant. She graduated from Griswold High School with the class of 1975, she then attended school for Graphic Art and Design in Omaha. On June 18, 1977, she was united in marriage to Gary Ruhl at Pilot Grove Park. To this union, two daughters were born, Misty and Britney.  She worked for the Clarinda Company doing graphic design for art and text of film and in medical books. After the closure of the Clarinda Company, she attained her CNA and began working for Methodist Health Systems. She also worked at the Griswold Care Center and the Heritage House until her retirement.

Zoe was a lifelong member of the Grant Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and making salsa. Zoe was a wonderful cook and was known by family and friends for her cinnamon rolls and homemade pizza, which  she often delivered on holidays and Special occasions. She loved spending time with the grandchildren, family, and her beloved dog Gunther. She liked swimming and had taught swimming lessons for many years in the family pool.  She enjoyed being outdoors, rock hunting, and exploring nature. She was never at a loss for a quick joke or laugh.  Her sense of humor is something that will be cherished and remembered

She is preceded in death by her husband Gary; her daughter Britney; and her parents.  She is survived by her daughter Misty Adams and husband Brandon; grandchildren:  Abbi, Shelby, Brook, and Jenna; her sister Becky DuBois; her brother Nathan Miller and wife Missy; and many other beloved relatives and friends.

A visitation for Zoe will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2024, from 5:30-7:30 PM, at the Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold.  Interment will be at the Grant Cemetery at a later date.  Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is assisting the family.
