Obituary

Winston Lynn Moffatt was born October 28, 1958 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was raised on the family farm south of Beebeetown, IA and attended elementary school there. His posse of life-long best friends became known as the 'Henry Crew'. He graduated from Tri-Center High School Neola, IA with the Class of 1978. Winston was best known, in those days, for his jacked-up Chevy, with the loudest glasspack tailpipes in Pott County, announcing his arrival at any destination from miles away. Sometimes, his truck ran on special 'rabbit gas', usually when his nephews and nieces were along for a ride-- and giggle they did.

Upon graduation, he chose to follow his dream--a lifetime career farming and feeding cattle with Franz Kardell. Their respect for each other grew a bond so strong many thought they were blood, father and son. On any given day, in an instant, Winston could give you his current break-even cost for the cattle he had on feed. His joys in life with family and friends included bowling, fishing, woodworking and traveling to new and different places.

Winston never sought recognition. He simply showed up every day, did the work, helped where he could, and left things better than he found them.

Winston is survived by sisters, Rhonda Birchmier, Beth (David) McDonald, Peggy Kurth, and Amy Moffatt, and brother, Wesley (Kathi Aubry) Moffatt. He was Uncle Sam to Brooke (Chad) Knop, Blair (Tara) Posegate, Ross (Kate) Posegate, Hannah (Sam) Schrager, Sam McDonald, Brad (Justine) Kurth, Riley (Becca) Kurth, Tyson (Candace) Kurth, Brian Fitzsimmons, all his great nieces and nephews and his friend Cathy Temeyer.

Winston was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Franz Kardell, brothers-in-law Russell Kurth and Michael Birchmier, grandparents, Greta and Paul Felton, Mary and Lynn Moffatt, Sr. and fondest neighbor Sadie Briggs.

May heaven greet him with clear skies, open roads, and the keys to whatever he wishes to drive.
