Obituary

William "Bill" Eldon Lee, the son of Bill McKinley and Florence Clair (Galbraith) Lee, was born September 11, 1926 in Hancock, Iowa. He passed away peacefully, on May 21, 2018, at the Bethany Lutheran Home in Council Bluffs, IA, at the age of 91 years, 8 months, and 10 days.

After graduating from high school, Bill served in the Air Force from September 8, 1944 until February 15, 1945. After being discharged, he returned to Iowa and received a BA degree in agriculture from Iowa State University and then a BS degree in Biology from Simpson College. On July 25, 1954 he was united in marriage to Beverly Hancock in Omaha, NE. They lived in Omaha for about a year before moving to Hayward, CA. In 1970, they returned to Oakland. Bill lived in Oakland until about seven years ago when he moved to the Bethany Lutheran Home in Council Bluffs.

Bill was a member of the Oakland Christian Church and the American Legion.  Bill enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii.

He is preceded in death by his wife Beverly on September 15, 2003; his parents; his brothers: Don, Bob, and Wylie; and his sister Marjorie Robinson.

Bill is survived by his daughter M. Brenda Galbraith; his sisters-in-law, Pat Lee and Mary Lee; and his brother-in-law, Joe Hancock and his wife Evelyn. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Oakland Christian Church in Oakland, Iowa. Visitation with the family will take place one hour prior to the service. Interment with military honors will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery at Hancock, IA. Memorial may be given to the Bethany Lutheran Home in Council Bluffs or the Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital at 5401 South Street, Lincoln, NE 68506. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is in charge of arrangements.
