Wayne Marlin Matthes, the son of Wayne P. and Charlotte E. (Anderson) Matthes was born January 17, 1944 in Estherville, IA. He died at his home in Griswold, IA on March 26, 2016 at the age of 72 years, 2 months, and 9 days.
Wayne moved to Clinton, MO with his family, where his dad began working as a dairy farmer. He met Linda G. Eli, and they were united in marriage. Wayne worked as a draft planner for P.B. Coal Company before moving his family to Iowa to work for John Merill. He eventually discovered a second career as a nursing home administrator, where he worked for many years. Wayne was then united in marriage to Angie Ross. Wayne recently retired from administration and moved to Lewis and then to Griswold.
Wayne is survived by his wife Linda G. Matthes of Griswold, IA; his five children: Rick Matthes, Pamela S. Mankle, Morgan Otto, Megan Porter, and Maisee Argo; eight wonderful grandchildren; three great grandchildren; his brothers and sisters: Larry Matthes, Cindy Rader, Dean Matthes, David Matthes, Paul Matthes, Rodney Matthes, and Debbie Clouse; his aunts Elizabeth of Jackson, MN, and Edith of Estherville, IA; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A memorial Luncheon will be held at the Faith Lutheran Church in Griswold on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at noon.
