Wayne Fritz, the son of Fred and Edna (Heiman) Fritz, was born on the family farm Northwest of Oakland on October 26, 1922 and died June 7, 2013 at the Amelia House in Council Bluffs, IA at the age of 90 years, 7 months, and 12 days.


Wayne attended country school and then attended Oakland High School. On August 7, 1949 he was united in marriage to Ferne Mae Peterson in Council Bluffs, IA. They lived on the family farm their entire married lives. Wayne moved to the Amelia House in Council Bluffs, in November of 2008.


Wayne was a lifelong member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church. He was a true farmer at heart and loved spending time farming and spending time with his family. Wayne enjoyed woodworking and had made numerous presents for his family. He liked traveling and had enjoyed wintering in Arizona for several years and visiting Branson, MO with his family.


He is preceded in death by his wife Ferne and his parents.


He is survived by his children: John Fritz and wife Sandy of Colo, IA, Fred Fritz and wife Sharon of Council Bluffs, IA, Peggy Clausen of Colo, IA, and Mary Howe and husband Jeff of Carter Lake, IA; his grandchildren: Pete, Jeromey, Jeff, Matthew, James, Troy, Adam, Aimee, and Tracy; many great grandchildren; and his sister Wilma Leaders of Oakland, IA. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 10, 2013 at 1:00 PM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Oakland. Visitation with the family will be at the Rieken Vieth Funeral home in Oakland on Sunday from 5-7 PM. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is in charge of arrangements.
