Virginia Rossell's Obituary
Virginia Mueller Rossell, the daughter of August and Mamie (Mueller) Mueller, was born June 13 th , 1921 at Cumberland, IA. She died July 18, 2017, at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, IA, at the age of 96 years, 1 months, and 5 days.
Virginia attended Pringey School in the Cumberland area, until her family moved to a farm southeast of Griswold. She then attended school at Pleasant No. 6 in Pleasant Township. After graduating from school, she worked at home, helping with the household chores. She also worked for various families in the area until she married. On January 20, 1942, she was united in marriage to Austin Rossell. They lived and farmed on the Rossell home place until 1963, when they moved to their farm in East Pottawattamie County. Virginia maintained her home on the farm, until early this year.
Virginia was a member of the Lewis United Congregational Methodist Church, a member of the W.F.C.S, where she held offices in the different circles of the W.F.C.S. She had also been a member of the church choir for fifteen years and a fifty-year member of the neighborhood club that was called the "Happy Go Lucky Club".
Virginia is survived by one son, Marlin Rossell and his wife Carolyn; her grandchildren: Doug Rossell and his wife Angie, and Dan and his wife Jody; and her great grandchildren: Danielle Rossell, Marlia Mundorf and husband Walker, Faith Rossell, Josh Rossell, and Austin Rossell. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her husband Austin in October of 2007; her parents; two brothers, Ralph and his two wives Lavone and Maxine, and Clifford; and her sister Lillian Thulin and her husband Ross.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 10:30 AM at the Congregational Methodist Church in Lewis, IA. Visitation with the family will be on Friday, July 21, 2017 from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM at the Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold. Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is in charge of arrangements.
