V. Maxene Morrison
V. Maxene Morrison, the daughter of Joseph and Amanda (Lee) Larson, was born July 24, 1921 at Villisca, IA and died April 21, 2012 at her home in Griswold, Iowa, at the age of 90 years, 8 months, and 28 days.
Maxene graduated from Grant High School with the class of 1938. After graduation, she attended Peru State College at Peru Nebraska. Maxene then taught school for several years in Bedford and Shenandoah before returning to the Grant area. On October 20, 1947 she was united in marriage to Clair Morrison at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They lived in Grant and farmed there for many years. Maxene was a substitute teacher and then worked at the Griswold Care Center for over 25 years. Maxene moved to Griswold eight years ago. She lived at home until the time of her death.
Maxene was a member of the Grant United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary for over sixty years. She enjoyed flowers, baking, playing cards, music, and attending concerts. She especially enjoyed attending the events of her grandchildren.
Maxene is preceded in death by her husband Clair in 1976; two brothers, Russell and Chester; and her great grandson Ethan.
She is survived by her children: Marcia Davidson and husband Ken of Seabrook, MD, Juli Seemann and husband Doug of Atlantic, IA, Sallie Merritt and husband Mike of Preston, MN, and Scott Morrison and wife Dana of Cordova, TN; her grandchildren: Bryan, Evan, Craig, Kimberly, Kaela, Michal, Carissa, Brett, Hayley, Bryant, Frannie, and Abigail; and her great grandchildren: Garrett, Miranda, Kathryn, Laci, B.J., Tamora, Kienan, and Karson. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
