Obituary

Velma Restivo, 78, of Omaha, NE, died Saturday morning, March 6, 2010 at her home in Omaha.

Velma Joanne Silk Klein Restivo was born southwest of Griswold, IA, in Pottawattamie county on February 25, 1932, the daughter of John Peter and Minnie May (Kemling) Silk. She attended rural schools and graduated from Griswold High School in 1950. On July 21, 1951, she married Donald Darrel Klein in Tillamook, OR. Donald was career military and in subsequent years they lived in many places and they retired to Omaha in 1972. Velma was a bookkeeper for Arrow Printing and then later Regal Printing until her retirement in 1992. Don died September 4, 1987. On August 23, 1991, Velma married Joseph "Rusty" Restivo at Offutt Air Force Base and they made their home in Omaha. Velma was a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Omaha and was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband Rusty, her son Joe Klein and wife Kelly, her daughter Teresa Johnson and husband Stewart, her granddaughter Jessica Custard and husband Trevor, her grandson Jay Johnson and wife Danielle and great granddaughters Hailei and Ashton Johnson all of Omaha. Velma's stepchildren are Thomas Restivo and wife Sharon of San Antonio, TX, Angel Restivo of Omaha, step daughter-in-law Janet Restivo of Taylor, MI and 5 step grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister Hazel Snider and her brother Frank Silk both of Griswold, IA and her sister-in-law Linda Chapman of Phoenix, AZ.

Preceding Velma in death were her parents, her husband Donald, her daughter Kathy Jo Klein in 1953, her stepson Jeffrey on February 26, 2010 and her brothers Harry, Russell, Lee, Elmer, and Harold Silk and her sisters Dorothy Potter, Doris Casey, Marjorie Silk and Norma Wilson.

A Memorial Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Griswold, IA at 10:30 AM, Fr. Dean Nimerichter – Celebrant. Burial of cremated remains will be in the St. Mary's section of Pleasant Township Cemetery. Friday evening a prayer service will be held at the Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold at 7:00 PM followed by visitation with the family until 8:00 PM.
