Troy Dean Shanno, the son of Richard Ray and Joan Virginia (Ford) Shanno, was born February 3, 1968 in Fort Hood, TX and died July 18, 2015 at his home in Kenyon, MN at the age of 47 years, 5 months, and 15 days.
Troy attended school at Oakland, graduating from Oakland High School with the class of 1986. After graduating, he attended Universal Technical School in Omaha and worked at People's Natural Gas. After graduating from Universal, he worked at MidStates Heating and Cooling in Council Bluffs and then Pierce Pump. In 1994, he moved to Kenyon, MN where he worked for McQuay's as a heating and cooling technician. He was united in marriage to Brooke Geyer in 1996. One son was born to this union, Caleb. Troy continued to live in Kenyon until the time of his death.
Troy loved being outdoors, and was an avid fisherman and golfer. He liked listening to country music and watching the history channel. Troy enjoyed sports, and had coached Caleb's soccer team.
Troy is preceded in death by his grandparents.
He is survived by his son Caleb Shanno of Dodge Center, MN; and his parents, Richard and Joan Shanno of Oakland, IA. Troy is also survived by many cousins, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the Oakland United Methodist Church. Visitation with the family will be Friday evening from 5:00 PM until 7:30 PM at the Oakland United Methodist Church. Interment will be at a later date. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is in charge of arrangements.
