Obituary

Timothy Dean "Tim" Tye, 54, of Atlantic, IA, formerly of Griswold, died Sunday evening at the Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center where he had been a resident for nearly 4 years.

Tim was born at Omaha, NE, on May 25, 1957 the son of Elgie Dean and Thelma Ione (DeWitt) Tye. He attended schools in Griswold and went to work for his dad at Tye's Repair in Griswold. On March 5, 1983, he married Ronda Sue Rowe at the Central Church of Christ in Griswold. He continued working for his dad until his health began to fail. Tim was an EMT with the Griswold Rescue Squad from 1981-1986 and had served as its president and he also had served on the Griswold Fire Department from 1976 to 1985. Tim enjoyed watching NASCAR (Bill Elliott was his favorite driver) and watching NFL football (Kansas City Chiefs were his favorite team). His hobbies were camping, fishing, and hunting, and he also enjoyed spending time with his grandkids.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ronda on February 25, 2010, his daughter Veronica Tye-Leighton and his brother-in-law Rick Shadden.

Survivors include his children and grandchildren: Jessica Shroyer and husband Chuck and sons Kyler and Colton of Atlantic; Jason Tye and wife Krissy and daughters Mikayla, Abby and Brenna of Griswold; Joseph Tye (currently stationed in Afghanistan) and wife Jessica and son Hunter of Killeen, TX; and Samuel Tye and his family of Auburn, WA. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday November 19, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the Central Church of Christ in Griswold, Aaron Albus officiating. Burial will be in the Whipple Cemetery. Open visitation will be at the Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold, and the family will be present from 6:00 to 7:30 Friday evening.
