Terrel W. Klahn, age 71, of Oakland, IA went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly on Sunday, December 22, 2013.


Terrel was born on March 14, 1942 in Council Bluffs and raised on a farm east of Treynor. He graduated from Treynor High School in 1960. He married his high school sweetheart Deanna Holst in 1962. They farmed south of Treynor until 1983, and then moved in to Treynor. Terrel worked for many years at TS Bank, retiring in 2007. Following his retirement, he and Deanna enjoyed spending time attending the activities of their grandchildren. Terrel was an avid collector of all International Harvester memorabilia. He was a member of Fellowship of Faith Christian Center, where he served faithfully in many ways.


Terrel was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Marie Klahn, and his sister, Virginia Vorthmann.


He is survived by his wife of 51 years Deanna of Oakland: his three daughters: Amy (David) Maatz of Corcoran, MN, Lori (John) Hanson of Waseca, MN, and Heidi (Jon) Boehme of LeMars, IA; seven grandchildren: Brandon and Logan Maatz, Emily (Erik) Simmons, Nicholas Hanson, and Madison, Morgan, and McKennen Boehme; his brother Wendell (Jinnie) Klahn: his sisters: Shirley (Gerald) Young, Jeralynn (Elwyn) Rollins, and Rogene (Frank) Baum; his brothers-in-law, Fritz (Carol) Holst and Stanley (Norma) Vorthmann; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. His caring ways, giving spirit and encouraging words will be dearly missed

Visitation with the family will be on Thursday, December 26, 2013 from 9-11 AM at the Fellowship of Faith Christian Center on the south side of Oakland. A funeral service will be at 11:30 AM at the Fellowship of Faith Christian Center. Interment will be at 2:30 PM at the Zion Cemetery at Treynor, IA. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is in charge of arrangements.
