Stanley Dean Pelzer, the son of Lester and Nellie (Emmert), was born July 8, 1936 on the family farm, in Noble Township, near Griswold, IA. He died February 7, 2018 at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha, NE, at the age of 81 years, 6 months, and 30 days.

Stanley attended Griswold High School, graduating with the class of 1954. He was then drafted into the Army, where he served in Germany. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Griswold where he worked for Floyd Sunderman and farmed with his father. On April 2, 1961 he was united in marriage to Donna M. Taylor, at the Grant United Methodist Church. Stanley and Donna purchased the current in farm in 1970. He continued to farm there and do repair work in his shop. Stanley retired from farming in the early 2000's but remained active in the daily operation of the shop.

Stanley was a member of the Grant United Methodist Church where he had served as a trustee. He was a member of the Southwest Iowa Two Cylinder Club and enjoyed going on tractor rides. He liked going to auctions, collecting everything John Deere, and had recently went on an Honor Flight to Washington D.C. Stanley loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Stanley is preceded in death by his wife Donna; his son Jerry; his parents; his sister-in-law Twila McGann; and his brother-in-law Glenn Taylor.

He is survived by his children: Kristi Spencer and husband Ned of Ball Ground, GA, Dawn Roberts and husband Scott of Grant, IA, and Joel Pelzer and wife Heather of Griswold, IA; his grandchildren: Spencer, Landon, and Sophia Pelzer; his sisters, Karen Carmichael and husband Bill of Sioux Falls, SD, and Carol Heesch of Harlingen, TX; his brother Larry Pelzer and wife Nancy of Lewis, IA; his brother-in-law Clyde Taylor of Venice, FL; and his sister-in-law Janet Taylor of Elliott, IA. Stanley is also survived by many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be on Monday, February 12, 2018 at 10:30 AM at the Grant United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Grant Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Sunday at the Griswold Community Building from 2:30 PM until 5:30 PM. Stanley's family requests that casual attire be worn to the visitation and funeral. A memorial fund has been established. Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is in charge of arrangements.
