Obituary

Stacey Casey, 47, of Griswold, was found November 23, 2010, as a result of an auto accident southeast of, Griswold. She had been missing since Saturday. It is thought, based upon investigation, that death was immediate.

Stacy Denise Snyder was born at Tempe, AZ on April 6, 1963, the daughter of Gene Ralph and Virginia Lea (Shultz) Snyder. She graduated from Tempe High School in 1981 and came to Griswold in 1983 to help care for her grandfather, John Shultz following her grandmother's death. She worked for Hansen Egg Co. for a short time and attended classes at Iowa Western Community College. On June 6, 1987 she married Michael Joseph Casey at Wakonda Prayer House northwest of Griswold. She partnered with Mike in the operation of their grain farm and was fearless in operating all of the equipment used in farming. She raised their three daughters and attended classes at the University of Nebraska- Omaha, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1993 with degrees in Art and Elementary Education.

Stacy was very artistic, even to the point of building her own rock garden. She had a lifetime love for animals and as a young child always wanted horses. She got her horses and for a time was president of the Elliott Saddle Club. Stacy also loved antiques.

Stacy was preceded in death by her grandparents and her father Gene in 1991.

Survivors include her husband Mike, her daughters Miranda Estelle Casey and her fiancée Mark Vannausdle of Eldon, MO, Sloan Casey of Omaha and Charlotte Elizabeth Casey at home; her mother Virginia Snyder of Tempe, her sister Lynn Criner of Phoenix, AZ, and her brother Tim Snyder of Tempe. Also surviving are her nephew Cody Criner, her niece Chelsea Criner and her aunt Shirley Hines as well as several cousins, her friends and the animals she loved so dearly.

No funeral services are planned. The family will meet relatives and friends Saturday, November 27, 2010 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at the American Legion Building in Griswold. Burial of cremated remains will be at a later date in Pleasant Township Cemetery south of Griswold. Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is assisting the family with their wishes. A memorial fund has been established and memorials are suggested to the Griswold Fire and Rescue Department.
