Shirley Diane Adams, daughter of Ivan and Marjorie (Watts) Kirby, was born May 4, 1948, in Clarinda, Iowa. She died October 26, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa, at the age of 74 years, 5 months, and 22 days.

Shirley attended school in Bedford, graduating from Bedford High School with the class of 1966.  On March 30, 1968, she was united in marriage to Bill Adams at the Clarinda United Methodist Church.  They lived in Bedford and Avoca a short time before moving to Oakland.  Shirley had worked at Oakland Foods and Oriental Trading.

Shirley was a member of the Oakland United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed cooking, reading, birdwatching, tea parties with her nieces and nephews, and watching mysteries.  Her favorite holiday was Halloween.

Shirley is preceded in death by her children: Tom, Linda, and Lisa; her parents; her stepfather Sam Coffman; her sister Karen; her brother-in-law Larry; and her sister-in-law Sharon.

She is survived by her husband Bill Adams of Oakland, IA; her sister Brenda Coffman Miller of Avoca, IA; her brothers: Brad Coffman and wife Loretta of Silver City, IA, Ernie Coffman of Oakland, IA, and Wayne Coffman of Lebanon, MO; her sisters-in-law, Cindy Jensen and husband John and Nancy Ortmann; and her brothers-in-law, Phil Adams and Jim Adams and wife Patty; her nieces and nephews: Jason, Michael, Tyler, Christina, Jennifer, Kevin, Leslie, Samanytha, Adam, T.J., Mark, and Laurie; and many other relatives and friends.

A Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at 1:00 at the Rieken Vieth Funeral Home. A procession to the cemetery will leave the funeral home at 1:45 PM.  The graveside service will be at 2:00 PM at the Oaklawn Cemetery.  Memorials may be given to Oakland Fire and Rescue. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
