Sharon Elaine "Sherry" Dobernecker's Obituary
Sherry attended school at Griswold. On February 23, 1955, she was united in marriage to Chester "Chet" Carl Dobernecker, in Atlantic. Sherry and Chet lived in Griswold, where they owned and operated the M & M Motel and in later years, Dobie's Dump Trash Service. Sherry also worked at the M & M Café and several different jobs over the years including: driving a bus for the Griswold Community School District for over thirty years, working at the Legion Club in the kitchen and as a waitress, and cleaning at the Creighton Retreat Center. Chet, her beloved husband of 38 years, passed away in 1993. Sherry continued to live in Griswold and maintained her own home, until the time of her death.
Sherry and Chet loved dancing, camping, and traveling to Las Vegas many times. She enjoyed bowling, shopping at thrift stores, cooking, baking, gardening, canning, freezing sweet corn, and watching her stories. Sherry especially loved spending time with her kids and grandkids.
Sherry is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her sister Norma Jean Abboud; and her brothers: Leland, Charles "Mac", and Donald McCullough.
She is survived by her children: Mike Dobernecker and wife Raenita of Bellevue, NE, Mitch Dobernecker and wife Kimberly of Johnstown, CO, and Shelly Ridlen of Albia, IA; her grandchildren: Kristin Dobernecker, Justin Dobernecker and wife Courtney, Nicole Urkoski and husband Jason, Jennifer Banks and husband Eric, Jason Dobernecker and wife Jennifer, Amanda Preston and finance Mike Strasko, and Lucas Ridlen; and her great grandchildren; Makenna Pflueger, Max Urkoski, Chandler Banks, Cayson Banks, Makenzi Preston, Harper Strasko, Beckett Strasko, Madison McCurry, and Colton McCurry. Sherry is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 13, 2017 at 10:30 AM at the Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold. Visitation with the family will be Sunday afternoon from 2:30 until 4:30 PM at the Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold. Interment will be in the Griswold Cemetery. Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is in charge of arrangements.
