Sharon Kay Oles' Obituary
Sharon Kay Oles, the daughter of Leon and Dorothy (DeWitt) Putnam, was born August 10, 1942 in Griswold, IA. She died December 12, 2016 at the Griswold Care Center in Griswold, Iowa at the age of 74 years, 4 months, and 2 days.
Sharon attended school in Elliott, graduating from Elliott High School in 1960. After graduating, she worked at a bank in Council Bluffs. On May 6, 1961, she was united in marriage to Larry Bruce Oles at the Methodist Church in Elliott. Three children were born to this union: Jeff, Terri, and Mary. They lived in Red Oak where Sharon worked at Union Carbide. They moved to Griswold and Sharon worked at several jobs including the Nursing Home, the Truck Stop, and the Mini Mart. They then moved to Atlantic, where Sharon worked at the Elks Club and kept books for Eblin's Construction. Sharon returned to Griswold, where she moved into the Griswold Care Center.
Sharon enjoyed knitting, visiting with friends, playing cards, and had been a member of the D.O.E.S. in Atlantic.
She is preceded in death by her husband Larry Bruce Oles in 1994; her parents; her brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Rose Oles and Jerry Oles.
She is survived by her children: Jeff Oles and wife Ida of Hamlin, IA, Terri Kimpson and husband Mike of Griswold, IA, and Mary Perdue and husband Brent of Elliott, IA; her grandchildren: L.J. Oles, Cindy (Shorty) Graton, Booklyn Oles, Jesse Oles, Tia Kimpson (Eric Sandbothe), Zac Kimpson (Stephanie Meyers), Corey (Jenna) Perdue, and Bradley Perdue (Shay Edie); her great grandchildren: Harmony Oles, Cameron Lewis, Keely and Kinzie Swanson, Kiara Sandbothe, Isabel and Jax Kimpson, Kaden and Kinley Perdue, and Savannah Perdue; her brothers and sisters: Jerry Putnam and wife Shiona, Leon Putnam Jr. and wife Marla, Judy Robberts and husband Kenny, and Debbie McAfee and husband Ralph; and her in-laws Dick Oles and wife Dot, and Mike Oles and wife Jeanie. She is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold. Interment will be in the Griswold Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Friday, December 16, 2017 from 5:30 until 7:30 at the Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold. Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is in charge of arrangements.
