Scott Audrey Keeney, age 64, died at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha, NE on May 30, 2018 after a brief, but brave battle with cancer. From his birth, on January 1, 1954 to his death he was a thoughtful and loving person to friends, family and fellow road warriors.

Scott attended school in Griswold, graduating with the class of 1972. He spent most of his career as a truck driver going by the handle "Grizzly" as an homage to his ever-present beard and love of his hometown.

Vickie (Madsen) Keeney finally accepted Scott's proposal and they were married on June 25, 1983. The couple was planning to celebrate their 35 years of marriage with a bonfire at their house later this month.

Scott lived by the motto, "you can never have too much fun," this meant different things at different times in his life. In his younger years that meant legendary house parties while his parents, Louis and Mary (Collinson) Keeney and sister, Ricka, were out of town. It meant organizing poker runs down the Nishnabotna River with his new bride. As their family grew, fun was defined as tutoring his daughter, Jenny Kite, on all her make up homework during another family road trip. In his later years, he had fun road tripping around Iowa with his wife to try new restaurants, camping at Anita Lake, tickling his grandson's cheek with his graying beard and rehashing the day's news headlines or weather report.

Scott is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dana, in infancy. He is survived by his wife Vickie of Griswold, IA; his daughter Jenny Kite and husband Adam of Ogden, UT and their son Hudson; his sister Ricka Fine of Owings Mills, MD; and his nephews, Jesse and Bradley Markowitz.

A celebration of life will be held at Scott and Vickie's house, 608 Adair St., Griswold, IA, 51535 , on Sunday, June 3, 2018, starting at 5:00 PM with a bonfire to follow honoring their loving marriage. Bring a lawn chair and your good memories of Scott. A memorial fund has been established in Scott's name. Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is in charge of arrangements.
