Russell Grisso, 47, of Griswold, IA, died Saturday afternoon, March 10, 2012, at his home in Griswold.

Russell Alan Grisso was born at Chicago, IL, on January 6, 1965, the son of Edward Russell and Sharon Lee (Kroll) Grisso. The family moved to Cabool,MO and Russell attended schools there and graduated from Cabool High School. The family then moved to Sioux Falls, SD and there in 1986 he was married to Lori Hilliard and they moved to Omaha, NE. He joined the US Army in 1989, received schooling as a construction equipment repairer and was stationed in Germany for over 2 years before receiving his Honorable Discharge in 1992 at Ft. Dix, NJ. Returning to Omaha he attended ITT Institute and then worked as a mechanic for heavy equipment and automobiles as a career.

His marriage ended in divorce and Russell lived in the Atlantic, Lewis, Louisiana and the Oregon before returning to this area again. He was last employed as a mechanic in the maintenance department at the Menards factory in Shelby, IA before being diagnosed with cancer. Russell loved to travel but before he died, it was his wish to be near his son.

Survivors include his son Kevin Grisso, his special friend Melissa Laughlin and his former wife Lori Grisso - all of Griswold. Also surviving are his father Edward of Woodland Hills, CA, his brother Scott of Omaha and his sister Becky Polo of Roanoke, VA, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Russell in death were his grandparents and his mother.

No funeral services are planned and cremation has taken place. Duhn Funeral Home is assisting the family in meeting their wishes.
