Russell Dale Clark
Russell Dale Clark, the son of Cloyd and Phyllis (Coleman) Clark, was born April 4, 1947 at Council Bluffs, Iowa and died July 18, 2010 at his home, on the family farm near Oakland, Iowa at the age of 63 years, 3 months, and 14 days.
Russell attended school at Oakland, graduating with the class of 1965. He attended college at Northwest Missouri State University for one year before enlisting in the Air Force. While in the Air Force he served in Florida and Korea. Russell was honorably discharged from the service and on December 18, 1971 he was united in marriage to Joyce at Wheeler Grove Presbyterian Church. Russell reenlisted in the Air Force and served in California and Thailand. After being honorably discharged in 1976, he returned to Oakland where he and Joyce made their home near the family farm. In 1980, Russell and Joyce moved to the family farm. Russell continued to farm until recently when failing health forced him to retire.
Russell was a proud member of the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing cards. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Russell liked to travel, and loved visiting Alaska.
He is preceded in death by his father Cloyd.
He is survived by his wife Joyce of Oakland, IA; his children: Joe Chlebik and wife Susanne of Little Elm, TX, Wendy Dahir and husband Dave of Minden, IA, Tina Hill and husband Tim of Oakland, IA and Justin Clark and wife Stacy of San Diego, CA; his grandchildren: Jessie, Kelli, Jenny, Joey, Charlotte, Chad, Amanda, Bradley, Jessica, Alexis, Austin, Braydon, Michelle, Kyle, Ethan, Kailey, and Evan; his great granddaughter Ella; his mother Phyllis Clark of Oakland, IA; and his sisters Rozan Pedersen and husband Randy and Kyle Rose and husband Dan, all of Wayne, NE. Russell is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 22, 2010 at 10:30 AM at the Sharon Presbyterian Church west of Oakland. Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday evening at the Sharon Presbyterian Church from 5-8 PM. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is in charge of arrangements.
