Ruby Kinser, 91, of Griswold


Ruby Justine Hanson Kinser passed away Sunday morning, February 9th, 2014, at the Griswold Care Center in Griswold, IA, where she had lived since February 2011. She was 91 years old.


Ruby was born on March 10, 1922 at Owatonna, MN to Edwin and Sedate Johnson Hanson. She was raised in Mentor, MN on the family dairy farm, where being the oldest of five, she was her Dad's best helper. She attended Mentor Consolidated School and graduated in 1941. She married Willard (Estell) Kinser in September of 1941.


Over the years, Ruby has enjoyed a love of letter writing, being Estell's right hand man, and bookkeeper in his business at Kinser Garage. Ruby loved her friends, enjoyed music, gardening, flowers and being very active in her church and other organizations.


Ruby is survived by three children, Luana "Lonnie" (Bruce) Bonnes, of Derby, KS, Monte (Penny) Kinser of Glenwood, IA, Kristi (Marc) Bitler of Derby, KS; four grand-children, Matthew (Angie) Bonnes of Derby, KS, Misti Bonnes of Derby, KS, Nicole Kinser (Brian) Ballard of Wichita, KS, Kathleen "Katie" Kinser of Council Bluffs, IA, step grand-son, Craig (Karen) Bitler of Cumming, GA; five great-grand-children; Blake and Benjamin Bonnes of Derby, Ks, Corbin and Kinsley Ballard of Wichita, KS and Drake Bitler of Cummings, GA; and her sister Byrde Ireland of Griswold, IA.


She was preceded in death by her parents: her husband in 1983; two sisters, Virginia Fuller, Blanche Brown, brother, Reuben Hanson.


Funeral service will be held for Ruby on Friday, February 14th at 10:00 AM at the Faith Lutheran Church in Griswold, IA. Burial will follow at Flint Cemetery. An open visitation will be held at the Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold on Thursday. The family will not be present at any specific time. Duhn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A memorial has been established.
