Obituary

Ronda Tye, 51, of Atlantic, IA, formerly of Griswold, died Thursday morning, February 25, 2010 at the Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center in Atlantic where she had been a resident for the last 6 months.

Ronda Sue Rowe Tye was born on June 30, 1958 at Omaha, NE, the daughter of Donald and Sandy (Harrison) Rowe. She grew up in Omaha and graduated from Benson High School in 1976. Following graduation she was a waitress. On March 5, 1983, she married Timothy Dean Tye at the Central Church of Christ in Griswold. Ronda enjoyed bowling, watching NASCAR - being a fan of Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr., watching Nebraska football, camping, crocheting, listening to music - especially Elvis Presley and Brooks & Dunn, and spending time with her grandkids. The last few years, she especially enjoyed working at Caseys until her health would no longer allow her to do that.

Survivors include her husband Tim of Atlantic, her daughter Jessica and fiancée Chuck Shroyer and sons Kyler and Colton of Atlantic, her sons Jason Tye and wife Krissy and daughters Mikayla, Abby and Brenna of Griswold and Joe Tye currently stationed in South Korea and fiancée Jessica Springer of Griswold, and her stepson Sam Tye of Washington state and his daughters. Also surviving is her step-father Al Thornton of Omaha, her brothers Don Rowe and wife Lynn of Omaha and Mike Rowe and wife Teri Lynn of Council Bluffs; her sisters, Jeanne Shadden of Council Bluffs and Tammy Cox and husband Chris of Texas, her step-brother Mike Thornton and wife Linda of Illinois as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding Ronda in death were her parents, her stepdaughter Veronica Tye-Leighton and her brother-in-law Rick Shadden.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at 1:30PM at the Central Church of Christ in Griswold, Mike Fabian officiating. Burial will be in the Whipple Cemetery. Open visitation will be at the Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold and the family will be present from 6:30 to 7:30 Tuesday evening.
