Ronald Dean Peterson (“Ron”)

Ronald Dean Peterson, lovingly known as “Ron,” passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026, at the age of 73.

Ron was born on December 17, 1952, in Lewis, Iowa, to Ralph and Ruby Peterson. He spent much of his life in and around the Lewis and Atlantic, Iowa, areas before moving to Tennessee. Ron loved his years in Tennessee, where he met the love of his life, Judith. They shared many happy years together until her passing. Following Judith’s death, Ron returned to Iowa to be closer to the family he loved, where he remained until his passing.

Ron dedicated many years of his career to Atlantic Lumber, where he was known as a hardworking and dependable employee. Outside of work, he found joy in the simple things that reflected who he was. He had a lifelong love of tractors, all things western. Ron was an avid sports fan and he loved NASCAR no matter the sport he was happy to watch and cheer on his favorite team or driver. He was especially proud of his cowboy hat collection and his treasured baseball cap collection. Whether talking about old tractors or sharing stories, Ron’s gentle nature and warm smile made everyone feel welcome.

Above all, Ron was a sweet, kind, and loving man who took great joy in his family. He will be remembered for his caring heart, quiet strength, and the love he gave so freely to those around him.

Ron is survived by his brother Perry and wife Diane Peterson and their children his son Jeremy Peterson and his wife, Kaela; his daughters, Jenelle Conto and Marcie Peterson; his grandchildren, Garrett (Taylor) Peterson, Quintin (Brooke) Conto, Kaitlyn (Connor) Tuschen, Korben Peterson, and Kaydence Peterson; as well as four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith, his parents, Ralph and Ruby Peterson as well as his Brother Dave Peterson.

Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in the memories Ron leaves behind. His kindness d gentle spirit will be missed and forever remembered.
