Roger Lyle West, the son of Lyle and Mildred (Hummel) West, was born January 1, 1940, in Council Bluffs, IA.  Roger died January 12, 2024, at the Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha, NE, at the age of 84 years, and 11 days.

Roger graduated from Oakland High School with the class of 1958.  On Sept 10, 1961, Roger was united in marriage to Helen Wallace.  Four children were born to this union: Rodney, Crystal, Dee, and Randy.  Helen died November 10, 1991.  On October 5, 2002, he was united in marriage to Nancy Shreves.  With this union, Roger gained two more children, Brenda and Bruce.

Roger drove a truck all his life.  He enjoyed seeing the country and met many friends on the road and CB Radio.  He said the best job he had was hauling bulls.  He enjoyed the holidays, and spending time with his family.  He especially liked family and reunions.  Roger was a lifelong Iowa Hawkeye fan.

Roger is preceded in death by his wife Helen West; his parents; his sister Willa Carter; his sons-in-law Mike Mundorf and Fred Kinser; his grandson Nathan; three brothers-in-laws; his daughter-in-law Rayann West; and friend John O'Neill.

He is survived by his wife Nancy; his children: Rodney West and wife Jennifer, Crystal Heyveld and Tony Lee, Dee Mundorf; Randy West and wife Becky, Brenda Roloff, and Bruce Shreves; his sisters Marla O'Neill and Nan Sams; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Roger's funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at 10:30 AM, at the Henderson Christian Church.  Interment will be in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday evening from 5-7 PM, at the Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland.  Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is assisting the family with arrangements.
