Rodney Dean Northrup, the son of Harlan Leslie and Marilyn Jean (Fraizer) Northrup, was born April 1, 1960, in Atlantic, IA. He died May 28, 2026, in Atlantic, IA, at the age of 66 years.

Rod attended school at Griswold, graduating with the class of 1979. After graduating, he continued to farm with his father. On January 20, 1988, Rod was united in marriage to Amy Nelson. They moved to their family farm where Rod continued farming and raising cattle.

Rod loved spending time with his grandchildren and teaching them about farming. He enjoyed tinkering in the shop, hunting, golfing, boating, and spending time at the lake house. He and Amy liked to travel, and especially loved visiting Belize.

Rod is preceded in death by his parents. Rod is survived by his wife, Amy of Griswold, IA; his children: Zach Robinson and wife Holly of Atlantic, IA, Makayla Wiese and husband A.J. of Filley, NE, and Rachel Larsen and husband Heath of Lewis, IA; his grandchildren: Vivienne, Ada, Aubrey, Kade, Korbin, Kole, and Kruz; father-in-law and mother-in-law Glen and Janet Nelson of Atlantic, IA; brother-in-law Brad Nelson and wife Sheryl of Hollister, CA; and many other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026, from 4-8 PM, at East of Omaha in Griswold.
