Rocky Thayne Crowder, the son of Robert "Bob" and Mary (Sinderson) Crowder, was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on October 18, 1953. He died August 13, 2018 at his home in Oakland, Iowa at the age of 64 years, 9 months and 26 days.

Rocky graduated from Oakland High School with the class of 1971. He then attended Northwest Missouri State College and received a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, then to the University of Nebraska in Omaha for his Master degree in Psychology. Rocky worked for Iowa Children and Family services as a therapist and later opened his own private practice in Omaha. He recently attended the Universal College of Healing Arts and became a licensed Massage Therapist. He lived at home until the time of his death.

Rocky was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. He enjoyed nature and hiking and loved traveling. He traveled to Israel, Italy, Bethlehem, and had hiked the Grand Canyon three times. He enjoyed drawing, playing the guitar and loved animals.

Rocky is preceded in death by his parents.

Rocky is survived by his children: Jason Slack and wife Brandie of Council Bluffs, IA, Sarah Coleman and husband Bryce of Gilbert, AZ, Bailey Vidales and husband Robbie of Gilbert, AZ, and Thayne Crowder of Raleigh, NC; his grandchildren: Xavier Coleman, Ethan Vidales, Mason Slack, and Julia Slack; his sister Tami and husband Dave Wright of Oakland, IA; his brother Randy Crowder and his wife Jeanette of Woodland Hills, CA; and his dog Emma. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
