Robert Allen Zimmerman II, affectionately known as Bob, was born on May 1, 1955, in Council Bluffs, IA, to Edris Darlene (Simm) and Robert Allen Zimmerman. He passed away on December 4, 2024, at the Griswold Care Center in Griswold, IA, at the age of 69.

Bob was raised on the family farm and graduated from Oakland High School in 1973. He furthered his education at Morningside College and earned a bachelor's degree in Farm Operations from Iowa State University. His career was diverse, including time spent on ranches in Kremmling and Eagle, CO, and working as a cattleman, farmer, team roper, and substitute mailman. Bob was also a dedicated soil conservationist and co-founder of Bob and Tim's Training Camp for his nieces and nephews.

He served as a Commissioner for East Pottawattamie SWCE for 12 years, was a member of the FSA committee, and a regional director for CDI. Bob was known for his love of hunting, fishing, skiing, and his role as the neighborhood Santa. Above all, his grandchildren, Blaine, Adalyn, and Cassidy, were the center of his universe.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents and several good friends.

He is survived by his son, Brandon Buffington, and wife Denae of Lewis, IA; his beloved grandchildren, Blaine, Adalyn, and Cassidy; sisters Jo Peters and husband Larry of Council Bluffs, IA, and Becky Wetenkamp of Plattsmouth, NE; brother Tim Zimmerman of Council Bluffs, IA; nieces and nephews Abby Conrad and husband Derek, Ashley Elgan and husband Cody, Mary Anderson, Jon Kossow and wife Courtney, Marty Wetenkamp and girlfriend Mandi; 14 great nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

A prayer service will be held at the Carson Community Building on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at 12:45 PM, followed by a celebration of life visitation with the family until 3:00 PM. Burger Bar for Bob will be provided starting at 1:00 PM. Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is assisting the family during this time.
