Robert Carter
Robert Frances Carter, the son of James and Ethel (Morse) Carter, was born March 26, 1930 at Skidmore, MO and died December 10, 2012 at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, IA at the age of 82 years, 8 months, and 24 days.
Robert graduated from Graham High School. After graduating, he enlisted in the National Guard and then worked for a construction company. On July 7, 1953 he was united in marriage to Willa Mae West at St. Joseph, MO. They lived in St. Joseph before moving to Oakland where Robert began working for Northern Natural Gas. In 1964, he and Willa moved to Macedonia and then to Carson in 1998.
Robert enjoyed mowing, square dancing, playing cards, and playing Rumikub with his grandchildren. He had been a member of ARK Lodge #335 A.F. & A.M., the Scottish Rite, the Shriners, Promise Keepers, and the Gideon's.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents; his brother Lester; and sisters, Mildred and Margaret.
He is survived by his wife Willa of Carson; his son Monte of Oakland; his grandchildren: Jamie, Kimberly, Adam, and Robert Carter and Emily Gregory and husband Thomas; his great grandchildren: Carson, Madelyne, and Payton; and his brother Richard Carter and wife Lois of Barnard, MO. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 10:30 AM at the Henderson Christian Church. Interment will be at the Oaklawn Cemetery at 1:00 PM. Visitation with the family will be held Wednesday evening at the Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland from 6:00-7:30 PM. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is in charge of arrangements.
