Ricky Leroy Krause passed away on June 29th, 2021 at his home in Griswold, Iowa. Rick was born June 21, 1952 in Atlantic, Iowa to Cleo Leroy Krause and Mona (Petersen) Watson of Griswold, Iowa. He graduated from Griswold High School with the class of 1970. Rick was an outstanding wrestler along with a state qualifier in high school. Rick was a lifetime resident of Griswold, Iowa. He started working at a young age at Northern Natural Gas out of Oakland, Iowa for many years. Rick then worked at Thornton Moving Company out of Griswold, Iowa until his retirement. Rick had many different hobbies throughout his life which included Hunting, Fishing and enjoyed woodworking including building bird houses. Rick had a passion for gardening and had a true green thumb for his garden. Rick enjoyed talking about his hunting outings and fishing trips with family and friends. He truly enjoyed raising Labrador puppies and was a talented trainer of his dogs. Rick's true passion was being with family. Rick enjoyed spending time with his 3 children, grandkids and great-grandkids. He was truly proud to call himself a grandpa. He also enjoyed sharing a story or two with his friends.
He is preceded in death by his Mother Mona Watson and Father Cleo Krause along with his greatly adored grandparents Leroy & Blanche Krause. Rick Is survived by his children: Kara Troxel and Husband Terry of Omaha, Nebraska, Josh Krause and wife Kate Krause of Walnut, Iowa, and Brandon Krause of Altoona, Iowa. Rick also survived by 7 Grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Rick is survived by his siblings: Becky Skow and Husband Steve of Marne, Iowa, Bill Watson and Suzi Driver of Blue Eye, Missouri, James Watson of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Dale Watson of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Vickey Kobza and husband Bud of La Vista, Nebraska, along with nieces and nephews.
The family will have a memorial gathering at the Fish Farm at the shelter on July 11th, 2021 from 11am - 1pm.
