Obituary

Rick Beedle, the son of Mervin F. and Joan Fay (Martens) Beedle, was born May 14, 1958 in Sheldon, IA and died April 28, 2015 at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, IA at the age of 56 years, 11 months, and 14 days.


Rick attended school at Oakland, graduating from Oakland High School with the class of 1976. He attended Iowa State for one year before farming for Jim Peterson in Bentley, IA and then working for the Carson Grain Elevator. On June 11, 1983 he was united in marriage to Bobbette Schorsch at the Oakland United Methodist Church.   They moved to Tintonka, IA where Rick worked as a feed sales representative.   They returned to Oakland, and Rick continued to work in feed sales. Rick and Bobbette moved to Kearney, NE for a few years before returning to the family farm. Rick continued in sales and was currently working for Seitec.

Rick was a member of the Oakland United Methodist Church. He had been a member of the Knights of Pythias and the Cattleman's Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching sports. Rick was a natural salesman and had won many sales awards over the years.  He loved talking with his friends and spending time with his family. He was currently helping with the Fairview Cemetery Memorial Committee.

Rick is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife Bobbette of Oakland, IA; his son Eric Beedle and his fiancée Cassie Gilg of Papillion, NE; his daughter Collette Beedle of Missouri Valley, IA; and many other relatives and friends.



Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Oakland United Methodist Church in Oakland. Visitation with the family will be on Friday evening from 5-7:30 PM at the Oakland United Methodist Church. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery west of Oakland. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is in charge of arrangements.
