Obituary

Randal "Randy" Kent Ireland, the son of Dale and Marjorie Arlene (Thornton) Ireland, was born August 29, 1956 in Red Oak, IA. He died at his home in Lewis, IA, on September 28, 2018, at the age of 62 years and 30 days.


Randy attended school at Griswold, graduating with the class of 1974. After graduating he lived in Red Oak and Colorado, before returning to Elliott. Randy moved to Lewis and was united in marriage to Gina Sue Goretska. They lived in Lewis and Randy worked at Mahle Engine Components in Atlantic. Randy continued to work for Mahle until the time of his death.


Randy was known as "a jack of all trades". He could do anything from carpenter work to fixing cars. He enjoyed watching anything on television that had to do with home improvement.


Randy is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Wayne and Ron; his brother-in-law Rob Goretska; and his good friend Marge Sothman.


He is survived by his wife Gina of Lewis; his daughter Bethany Nichols and husband Brett of Lewis; his son Colton Ireland and his fiancé Courtney Read of Massena; his grandchildren: Ella-Lee, Gavin, and Colby; his parents-in-law Bob and Bee Goretska; and his special friends Bob and Jean Barnes.  He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.


A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at 1:00 PM at the Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold. Interment will be at a later date. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday evening at the Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold from 5:30-7:30 PM. Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is in charge of arrangements.
