Obituary

Priscilla Maxine Elliott Maugle, the daughter of Earl Smart and Beatrice (Vroom) Thompson, was born December 14, 1922 in Unity, Maine. She was one of ten children. She died December 12, 2017 in Essex, IA, at the age of 94 years, 11 months, and 28 days.

Priscilla attended school in Maine. On February 14, 1943, she was united in marriage to Boyd Martin Elliott in Boston, MA. The moved to Southwest Iowa and lived in several different places including: Carson, Macedonia, and Essex. In later years, they enjoyed spending their winters in Florida. Boyd died February 5, 1996. Priscilla moved to Essex to be closer to her family. She remained in Essex until the time of her death.


Priscilla enjoyed baking, and was known for her delicious and beautiful cakes. She liked knitting, crocheting, sewing, and reading cookbooks. She especially loved spending time with her family.

Priscilla was preceeded in death by her husband of 54 years, Boyd Martin Elliott; her second husband Ken Maugle; her parents; her brothers: Fred, Elmer, Albert, Earl (Slim), and Harold Thompson; her sisters: Jesse Mitchell, Arlene Knight and Audrey Ward; her son-in-law Ron Rehfeldt; and daughter-in law Kathy Warren Elliott.

Priscilla is survived by her six children: Ron Elliott and wife, Jan, Boydena Keller and friend Rick Alley, John Elliott and wife Ann, Willadeen Rehfeldt, Paul Elliott and wife Debbie, and Patricia and husband Bill Glasgo; her sister Dorothy Mitchell; 18 grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; 12 step great-grandchildren; 18 great-great grandchildren; 17 step great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends .



A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 10:00 at the Oakland United Methodist Church. Interment will be at a later date. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is in charge of arrangements.
