PHYLLIS RUBY PENDGRAFT
Phyllis Ruby Pendgraft, the daughter of Harley and Erma (Perdue) Osler, was born June 10, 1920 at Carson, IA and died January 17, 2011 at the Oakland Manor Nursing Home in Oakland, IA at the age of 90 years, 7 months, and 7 days.
Phyllis attended rural school near Carson. She was united in marriage to Art Pendgraft on August 20, 1938. Three children were born to this union: Robert, Roberta, and Richard. They lived in Oakland and Phyllis worked at several different cafés. Art died July 24, 1983. Phyllis continued to live at home until 2006 when she moved to the Oakland Manor Nursing Home.
Phyllis enjoyed square dancing, attending country music festivals, crocheting, sewing, camping, and collecting owls. She especially enjoyed watching people and was known to sit in the van for hours with Rich, watching the people go through Oakland.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her husband, her son Richard, and her parents.
She is survived by her children Roberta Reiff and Robert Pendgraft; her grandchildren: Anita, Joyce, Susie, Rodney, Bobbi, Tracy, Stephanie, and Chris; nineteen great grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Oakland Christian Church in Oakland. Interment will be at Wheeler Grove Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Friday evening from 5-7 PM at the Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland. A memorial fund has been established. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is in charge of arrangements.
