Peggy Ann Kindhart
Peggy Ann Kindhart, the daughter of Manfred and Winifred (McKee) Shanno, was born August 25, 1939 at Oakland, IA and died February 6, 2012 at her home in Oakland, IA at the age of 72 years, 5 months, and 12 days.
Peggy attended school at Oakland and graduated from Oakland High School with the class of 1957. On February 14, 1958 she was united in marriage to Donald Gene Kindhart. Four daughters were born to this union: Donnetta, Donna, Deb, and Doreen. Peggy worked as a nurse's aide at the Oakland Manor and Avoca Nursing Homes and Oakland Heights Assisted Living. She also spent time babysitting four of her eight grandchildren full time. Peggy maintained her own home until the time of her death.
Peggy was a lifelong member of the Oakland Christian Church. She enjoyed bowling and collecting bells. Peggy's life was devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved following their activities and spending time with them.
Peggy is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Jack Shanno.
She is survived by her daughters: Donnetta and David Perkins of Oakland, Donna Rock and Jeff Bartlett Oakland, Deb and Jon Jamison of Perry, and Doreen Krummel of Shelby; her grandchildren: Abby and Jenny Perkins, Eric and Mallory Rock, Kyle and Kirk Jamison and Cassandra and Jason Krummel; her sisters, Patsy Smith and Husband Lonnie of Oakland, and Pam Mazetis of Oakland; her brothers Richard Shanno and wife Joan of Oakland and Lonnie Shanno and wife Janice of Sidney; and her sister-in-law Sally Shanno of Mountain Home, AR.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 10:30 AM at the Oakland Christian Church in Oakland. An open visitation will be held at the Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland on Friday until noon. After 1:00 PM, open visitation will resume at the Oakland Christian Church. Visitation with the family will be on Friday from 5:30 PM until 7:30 PM at the Oakland Christian Church. Interment will be at the Oaklawn Cemetery at Oakland. Memorials may be donated to Hospice of Southwest Iowa or the Oakland Christian Church. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is in charge of arrangements.
