Patricia Lynne Johnson, the daughter of Leonard and Paulene (O'Riley) Cooney, was born October 18, 1946, in Creston, IA. She died December 5, 2020, at UnityPoint Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, IA, at the age of 74 years, 1 month and 18 days.

Patricia lived near Nodaway and Keosauqua, IA before moving to Oakland at the age of 15. She graduated with the class of 1964 from Oakland High School. Patricia and Dennis were united in marriage on August 27, 1964, at the Oakland United Methodist Church. Four children were born to this union: Jeffrey, Michael, Jim and Pamela. They lived in Cheyenne, Wyoming, while Dennis served in the Air Force.  They moved back to Oakland for a short time before moving to Des Moines, Oelwein and then to Griswold. They lived in Griswold until Dennis' death on November 22, 2017. Patricia then moved to Altoona, IA. Patricia enjoyed baking cookies, going camping, and loved watching the Hallmark Channel.  What she loved most was taking care of kids and helping raise her grandkids.

Patricia is preceded in death by her husband, Dennis; her son, James; her parents; her great grandchild, Rae Lynn; and her brother, Dennis Cooney.

Patricia is survived by her children: Jeffrey of Omaha, NE, Michael and wife Nancy of Altoona, IA, and Pamela Casey and husband Trent, of Treynor, IA; her grandchildren: Anthony, Alissa, Austin, John, Tyler, Nicole, Rya, Jordan, Chandler, Trevor, Rhylee, and Tanner; her great grandchildren: Mabry, Nile, Cashton, Weston, Laramie, William, Jameson, Carter and Azalea; her sister, Karen Emken of Omaha, NE and brother, Russell Cooney of Oakland, IA; special friend, Paula Hinchey.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Oakland United Methodist Church. Interment of Patricia and Dennis Johnson cremated remains will be in the Oaklawn Cemetery.  Rieken Funeral Home in Griswold and Oakland is assisting the family.
