Pamela Christensen, 58, of Griswold died Monday evening, March 26, 2012 at the Griswold Care Center in Griswold.
Pamela Jean Christensen was born at Council Bluffs, IA on January 15, 1954, the daughter of Marvin Basil and Betty Jane (Ratashak) Christensen. She graduated from Oakland High School with the class of 1972. She moved to Madison, NE and worked as an emergency dispatcher until 1975 when she became a dispatcher in Atlantic. She also worked for the Leprechaun Lounge in Griswold for a short while and then was hired as a Security Guard for the Ameristar Casino in Council Bluffs and worked there several years. She also worked for Iowa Workforce Development in Atlantic until last spring.
Pam was a former EMT with the Griswold Fire Department and enjoyed racing of all kinds, especially NASCAR and was always rooting for Dale Earnhardt.
Pam was preceded in death by her grandparents, her mother and her brother-in-law Daryl Thornton.
Survivors include her sister Diana Thornton of Beaumont, TX, her brother Terry Christensen of Shelby, IA, and her father and stepmother Marvin and Norma Christensen of Griswold. Also surviving are several aunts and uncles and her two nephews Cole Thornton of Essex, IA and Kelly Thornton of Beaumont, TX.
Memorial services will be held at the Duhn Funeral Home on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 1:30 PM, Aaron Albus of the Central Church of Christ officiating. Open visitation will be at the Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold beginning Saturday morning and the family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial services. Burial of cremated remains will follow in the Fairview Cemetery west of Oakland.
