Neuonia Arlene Timberman, the daughter of Ray and Hazel (Smith) Hotze, was born November 20, 1925, and died February 23, 2022, at the Griswold Care Center in Griswold, IA at the age of 96 years, 3 months, and 3 days.
Neuonia grew up west of Carson, IA and attended Carson Community Schools graduating with the High School Class of 1943. On January 30, 1946, she was united in marriage to William "Dick" Richard Timberman in Omaha, NE. They were blessed with three daughters, Linda, Suzanne, and Cindy. They made their home on Richard's family farm east of Oakland where they resided all their married life. In 1969, Neuonia was employed as a Certified Nurses Aide at the Oakland Manor in Oakland where she worked until she retired in 2003. She also worked part time at the Benjamin Franklin Dime Store and sorting apples for Reineke Orchard. Dick died April 9, 2003. Neuonia continued to live on the family farm and received the Century Farm Award in August of 2003. She moved into Oakland in 2014.
Neuonia was a longtime member of the Oakland Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for several years. She was a 50-year member and Past Chief of the Pythian Sisters and a charter member of the OFO Club. She was an active member of the Oakland Senior Center and served as vice president of the council. She was a 4-H leader and always remembered taking the Center Clover Club to the Iowa State Fair and camping out for the night. Gardening was one of her favorite hobbies and you could often find her tending to her large vegetable and flower gardens.
Neuonia is preceded in death by her husband William Richard Timberman; her grandson Ryan and wife Julie Nash; her son-in-law William R. Gottsch; her parents; her brothers and sisters: Theo Hotze, Clella Robinson, Cleo Hotze, and Maralyn Stickler; and her sister-in-law Bernadette Briceland.
She is survived by her daughters: Linda and husband Gary Nash of Walnut, IA, Suzanne Gottsch of Omaha, NE, and Cindy and husband Martin Eyberg of Plymouth, IA; her grandchildren: Kasey and wife Carrie Nash of Papillion, NE, William J. and wife Audrey Gottsch of Omaha, Nicole and husband Josh Dodd of Osage, IA and Brandon Eyberg of Osage; her great grandchildren: Collin Nash, Cade Nash, Carter Nash, Kylie Nash, twin sisters, Lauren Gottsch and Makenzie Gottsch, William T. Gottsch, Mia Gottsch, Lincoln Gottsch, Olivia Dodd, Ainsley Dodd, Sevryn Dodd, Emmery Dodd and Justin Andersen; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A close private family funeral will be held at a later date. Interment will be in the Oaklawn Cemetery in Oakland. The Rieken Funeral Home in Oakland is in charge of her arrangements.
