Mona Irene Schuster, the daughter of Walter and Etta (Taylor) Carse, was born on February 26, 1933, at home in Carson, Iowa. She died at the Risen Son Christian Village, on November 18, 2018, at the age of 85 years, 8 months and 23 days.
Mona graduated with the class of 1950 from Hancock High School. After graduation, she moved to Omaha and worked at Mutual of Omaha. She and Eugene Schuster were married on June 26, 1953 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale. Four children were born to this union: Teri, Larry, Jay and Lori. They moved to Fort Sill, Oklahoma for a short time before returning to Iowa. They lived on a farm southeast of Oakland for 29 years before moving into Oakland. She started working for Dr Van Zee at the Veterinary Clinic before retiring after 20 years. She lived in Oakland before moving to Risen Son in 2015.
Mona was a member of the Hancock United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing cards, traveling, and spending time at the Casino.
Mona is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Schuster on April 18, 1998; her parents; her grandsons Cory and Alex; her sister and brothers: Lois Cowdrey, Clifford Carse and Wayne Carse.
Mona is survived by her children: Teri Gregersen and husband Mark of Ames, IA, Larry of Detroit, MI, Jay and his wife Kathy of Council Bluffs, IA, Lori Robinson and husband Virg of Urbandale, IA; her seven grandchildren: Adam, Austin, Matt, Evan, Aidan, Ashley, and Erin; and three great grandchildren: Avery, Jaxsen and Brooke; and her special friend Bob Wright. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be Friday, November 23, 2018 at 1100 AM at the United Methodist Church in Hancock, Iowa. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service. Memorials are suggested to the Hancock United Methodist Church. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is in charge of arrangements.
