Mildred Pearl "Millie" Koenig, the daughter of Glen Dale and Helen Ordelta (Congdon) Livengood, was born September 13, 1934 in Elmo, MO and died June 17, 2014 at her home in Des Moines, IA at the age of 79 years, 9 months, and 4 days.
Millie graduated from Elmo High School and then attended Commercial Extension Business College. On March 4, 1956 she was united in marriage to John Duane Koenig at the Methodist Church in Elmo, MO. Four children were born to this union: John Edgar, Dianna Pearl, Janet Elaine, and Dale Duane. They moved to Council Bluffs, IA before moving South of Lyman, IA. John died December 31, 1970. Millie moved to Griswold where she started driving a bus for the Griswold Community School District. She retired in 1998. Millie moved to Adel before moving to Des Moines.
Millie was a member of the Noble Center United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, playing cards, and doing puzzles.
She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and her brother Kenneth Lee.
She is survived by her children: John Edgar Koenig of Griswold, IA, Dianna Pearl Butcher and husband Corey of State Center, IA, Janet Elaine Huff of Grimes, IA, and Dale Duane Koenig and wife Joy of Pleasantville, IA; her grandchildren: Tamara, Joshua, Kyli, John, Michael, Christopher, Nathan, and Noah; her great grandchildren: Nick, Alexa, Delaney, Joseph, Silas, Adoniah, Tucker, and Zoey; and her sister-in-law Mary Lee Livengood. She is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Millie will be on Friday, June 20, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold. Visitation with the family will be on Thursday, June 19 from 5:30-7:30 PM at the Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold. Interment will be at Noble Center Cemetery. Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is in charge of arrangements.
