Michelle Jo Hackett, daughter of Val Maghee and Jessie (Bolton) Maghee, was born on December 14, 1946, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She lived most of her childhood with her grandmother, June Bolton, of Oakland, Iowa.  Michelle passed away on May 13, 2023, at the Griswold Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center at the age of 76 years.

On March 5, 1965, Michelle married Jim Hackett, and to that union one son was born. Michelle and Jim have been residents of Neola, Iowa for over 40 years.  Michelle worked for many years with her husband, Jim, running their Tool & Die business in Council Bluffs, Iowa.  She also spent many years attending and instructing aerobics classes.  She enjoyed traveling with Jim and meeting new people.  She always had a smile on her face and made friends with anyone she encountered.  Michelle loved spending time with her family, especially her three grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Val Maghee and Jessie Maghee, and her grandmother, June Bolton, Michelle was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Dale Hackett and wife, Elsie, and her mother-in-law Dode Alston and husband, Russ.

Michelle is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jim Hackett; son, Mike Hackett and daughter-in-law, Gina Hackett of Winterset, Iowa; grandchildren, Mitchell Hackett of West Des Moines, Iowa, Taylor Hackett (Tanner Walsh) of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Justin Hackett of Winterset, Iowa; sister-in-law, Judi Aldridge (John) and family of Mooresville, North Carolina, and other family members and lifelong friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at the Neola Community Center in Neola, Iowa beginning at 11:00 A.M.  No flowers are requested by the family.  Memorials are suggested to your local pet shelter.  Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is assisting the family.
