Mary Lou Robbins, the daughter of Alden R. and Grace L. (McConnell) Terry, was born April 15, 1930 at Griswold, IA and died October 15, 2013 at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, IA at the age of 83 years, 6 months.
Mary Lou attended school at Griswold before moving to South Dakota. On June 5, 1948 she was united in marriage to Darrell E. Robbins at Atlantic, IA. They lived in Griswold, where Mary Lou worked at several different jobs. Darrell died April 29, 1998. Mary Lou continued to live in Griswold until the time of her death.
Mary Lou enjoyed fishing, doing puzzles, bowling, dancing, and cookouts with her family. She enjoyed taking care of people and was affectionately known as the neighborhood nurse.
Mary Lou is preceded in death by her husband Darrel E. Robbins; her parents; six sisters: Lucille Williams and husband Henry, Helen Portinell and husband Jerry, Betty Penry and husband Arnold, Mildred Robberts and husband Alvin, Eva Van Ray and husband Jack, Geraldine Dotson and husband Roy, and Lillian Terry in infancy; her brother Dwight Terry in infancy; and two nieces, Sharon Poole and Carolyn Colmenero.
She is survived by her son David E. Robbins and wife Elaine of Council Bluffs, IA; her daughters Ronda Howell and husband Stephen of Elliott, IA, and Leah Wright and husband Tom of Griswold; her grandchildren: Amy, Shannon, Eric, Sherri, Terry, and Heather; and ten great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A memorial graveside service will be held on Monday, October 21, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Pleasant Township Cemetery, south of Griswold. There will be no viewing or other services held at the funeral home. Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is in charge of arrangements.
