Marta Lynn Fender Key, the daughter of Stanley Wendall and Wanda Mabyn (Core) Fender, was born October 13, 1956 in Council Bluffs, IA. She died November 10, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, IA at the age of 60 years and 28 days.
Marta attended school in Oakland, graduating from Oakland High School with the class of 1974. She attended Creighton in Omaha, where she became a Dental Hygienist. Marta moved to Cedar Rapids, IA and in 2001, she moved to Virginia. In 2010, she returned to Oakland, where she lived until the time of her death.
Marta was a member of the Oakland Congregational Church. She enjoyed fishing and camping. Marta was very passionate about the Grist Mill Theater in Macedonia. She loved performing in plays and musicals, writing plays, and teaching others the fine art of acting.
She is preceded in death by her mother, and her sister Mary Jo Hooker.
She is survived by her father Stanley Fender; her niece Beth Haider; her nephews, Nick Hooker and Adam Hooker; her special friend Victor Ayers; and many cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Oakland Congregational Church in Oakland. Visitation with the family will be on Monday evening from 5:30 PM until 7:30 PM, at the Oakland Congregational Church. Interment will be at a later date. Lunch will be served by the Grist Mill Theater, at the Oakland United Methodist Church, following the funeral service. Memorials are suggested to the Grist Mill Theater in Macedonia. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is in charge of arrangements.
