Obituary

Marjorie Maxine Coffman, the daughter of Charles Wesley and Stella Cleo (Conley) Watts, was born September 28, 1924 at Knowlton, IA and died April 9, 2014 at the Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, IA at the age of 89 years, 6 months, and 12 days.

Marjorie attended school at Mount Ayr.  She moved to Bedford, where she married Sammie Coffman on June 12, 1954.  She worked in a sewing shop and as a waitress.  Sammie and Marjorie moved to Oakland in 1970.  She worked at West Central and volunteered at the museum.  She maintained her home until several weeks ago.

Marjorie enjoyed sewing, cooking, reading, and shopping.  She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Sam; her daughter Karen; her brother Bill; her sisters: Lois, Hazel, Thelma, and Alta; her grandchildren: Tom, Lisa, and Linda; and her son-in-law Larry.

She is survived by her children: Ernie Coffman of Oakland, IA,  Shirley Adams and husband Bill of Oakland, IA, Wayne Coffman and wife Sharon of Lebanon, MO, Brad Coffman and wife Loretta of Silver City, IA, and Brenda Miller of Avoca, IA; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 14, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Oaklawn Cemetery at Oakland.  An open visitation will be held on Sunday at the Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland from 2-6 PM.  The family will not be present at any specific time.  Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is in charge of arrangements.
