Marilyn Joan Fritz, the daughter of William and Frances (Anderson) Campbell, was born on February 25, 1935 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She died at her home in Oakland, IA on Thursday, August 2, 2019, at the age of 84 years, 5 months and 8 days.
Marilyn attended country school west of Oakland until sixth grade. She then graduated from Oakland High School with the class of 1953. She and Willard Fritz were married at the Oakland Christian Church on February 28, 1954. Six children were born to this union: Marshall, Susan, Kristin, Annette, Kaleigh, and Regina. They lived north of town on the family farm. Marilyn had several different jobs, including a bookkeeper for the Farm Service Co-Op. Marilyn also quilted professionally. They moved from the farm to Oakland in 1994.
Marilyn was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, the Mother's Club and had been a Den mother for the Cub Scouts. She enjoyed sewing and quilting, and was an excellent cook.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents; and her grandson Joshua.
She is survived by her husband Willard of Oakland, IA; her children: Marshall Fritz and friend Dinh of Omaha, NE, Susan Baxa and husband Tom of Minneapolis, MN, Kristin Turner and husband Richard of Salinas, CA, Annette Cooney and friend Mike of Des Moines, IA, Kaleigh Wilson and husband Dan of Oakland, IA, and Regina Cleaveland and husband Brad of Council Bluffs, IA; her grandchildren: Jaime, Jeremy, Alexandria, Christina, Jonna, Ross, Chaz, Abbey, Audrey, Cole, Quinn, Justine, and Mychal; sixteen great grandchildren; and her brother Charles Campbell and wife Mary Jo of Tucson, AZ. She is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
A funeral service for Marilyn will be held on Monday, August 5, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Oakland. Private Family interment will be in the Oaklawn Cemetery following the funeral. Visitation with the family will be on Sunday, August 4, 2019, from 4-6 PM at the Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is in charge of arrangements.
