Marilyn Lee Erickson, the daughter of Russell and Lena Helton, was born November 24, 1942 in Griswold, IA and died April 28, 2013 at the Griswold Care Center in Griswold at the age of 70 years, 5, months, and 4 days.


Marilyn attended country school until the eighth grade. On July 25, 1958 she was united in marriage to Harold Leroy Erickson in Council Bluffs. They had one child, Vanessa, and were happily married. Marilyn lived on the farm west of Griswold until she moved to town 3 years ago. Last year she moved to the Griswold Care Center.


Marilyn loved horses and had ridden in several rodeos. She enjoyed gardening, singing, berry picking, baking, and spending time with her family. She was a fan of bull riding on television.


She is preceded in death by her daughter Vanessa June 1, 2007 and her husband Harold October 29, 2001.


Marilyn is survived by her granddaughters: Angela Ohm and husband Scott of Walnut, IA; Amber Morgan and Matt Prall of Anita, IA; Ariell Johnson of Ely, IA and Akaela Johnson of Red Oak, IA; her son-in-law: Steve Johnson of Red Oak, IA and her great grandchildren: Dakota, Madison, Michael, Finnian, and Mabry. She is also survived by many other relatives and friends.



Funeral services will be on Friday, May3, 2013 at 11:30 AM at the Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold. Tony Brandt officiating. Burial will be in the Griswold Cemetery. Open Visitation will be at the Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold on Friday morning followed by visitation with the family starting at 10:30 AM until the time of the service.
