Margaret Alff, the daughter of John and Anna (Botos) Vaida, who immigrated from Romania, was born November 28, 1925, in Bellevue, NE. She died May 16, 2020, at the Oakland Manor Nursing Home in Oakland, IA, at the age of 94 years, 5 months, and 18 days.
Margaret attended school in Bellevue. During WWII, she worked as a "Rosie the Riveter" at Offutt Airforce Base. She then began working as a CNA before becoming an LPN. She worked in several different places, including Oakland Manor Nursing Home. In 2008, she moved to Oakland Heights Assisted Living, before moving to Oakland Manor.
Margaret was a member of the Oakland United Methodist Church. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling and going to the casino.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents; her grandsons, Daniel and Mark; her brothers and sisters; and her son-in-law, Randy Allen.
She is survived by her children: Judith Danker and husband Larry of Oakland, IA, M. Wayne Clark and wife Susan of Ankeny, IA, Barbara Jo McClanahan and husband Mick of Council Bluffs, IA, AnnaMaren Allen of Macedonia, IA, Carl Wilson Woodward and wife Pat of Council Bluffs, IA, and David Earl Woodward and wife GiGi of Council Bluffs, IA; her grandchildren and their spouses: Shawn (Jennifer), Ryan (Jody), Karen (Kirk), Shane (Theresa), Becky (Mark), Nick (Lisa), Brandi (Herman), Josh, Jared, Nathan, Nicole (Andrew), and Abbigale; eighteen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A memorial graveside service will be held at Belknap Cemetery, on Thursday, May 21, 2020, at 1:00 PM. Social distancing will be required. You are welcome to bring your lawn chair to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Oakland United Methodist Church. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is assisting the family with arrangements.
