Madeline E. Sivers


Madeline E. Sivers, the daughter of Alfred Donald and Gwendoline Harriet (Wells) Wright, was born December 7, 1927 in Griswold, Iowa and died March 31, 2012 at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 84 years, 3 months, and 24 days.

Madeline graduated from Oakland High School with the class of 1945. On June 16, 1946 she was united in marriage to Harry Sivers. They farmed East of Oakland for many years. Harry died November 14, 2008. Madeline lived in Oakland until the time of her death.

Madeline was a member of the Oakland Congregational Church – UCC, where she had served on several boards. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and had been a past Rainbow Mother. She liked antiques and old glassware. She enjoyed playing bridge, working in her yard and gardening. Madeline's family was always her top priority; she always put them first.

Madeline is preceded in death by her husband Harry and her parents.
She is survived by her two daughters, Julie Hertzler and husband, Dr. Jerrad Hertzler of Omaha, Nebraska; Emily Gatto and husband Dr. Daniel Gatto of White Bear Lake, Minnesota; five grandchildren: John Hertzler, Bradley Hertzler, Matthew Hertzler, Alicia Gatto Petersen and Mason Gatto; twelve great grandchildren: Madeline,William and Jerrad Hertzler, Havelah, Hannah and Harriet Hertzler, Nathaniel and Levi Hertzler, Eloise and Lucille (Gatto) Petersen, and Aydia and Torin Gatto. Also, by her sister Ilene Wright Smith; nephew, Michael Smith; and nieces Kay Jefferis and Dr. Joan Sivers.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Oakland Congregational Church in Oakland. There will be an open visitation at the Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland on Tuesday. The family will not be present at any specific time. Memorials are suggested to the Oakland Congregational Church Building Fund. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is in charge of arrangements.
