Mable Jean Sanny was born on August 16, 1937 in Atlantic, IA, the daughter of John Henry and Betty Marcielle (McGaffin) Sanny. She attended Lewis schools and graduated from Lewis High School in 1955 and following her graduation she worked for Blue Star Canning Co. In 1956 she married Larry A. Anderson and they later divorced in 1984. She worked for Cass County Home Health Care and later in the laundry department at the Cass County Memorial Hospital before her retirement.


Mable was a member of the Lewis United Congregational Methodist Church, a former member of the Eastern Star, a former Rainbow Mom, and the CCMH Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, crafting, cooking, watching nature, listening to music, and spending time with her family.


Mable died Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at Alegent Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs at the age of 76 years 4 months and 8 days.

Mable was preceded in death by her parents, son Jeffery, granddaughter Jessica Wyman, sister Joyce Cavin and her husband Stuart, nephew Todd Anderson and grandniece Melissa Anderson.


Survivors include her children - Jean (Donnie) Cohrs of Lewis, Chuck (Diane) Anderson of Griswold, Teri Leighton of Atlantic, Lauri (Lee) Wyman of Griswold and Sheri (Mark) Walter of Atlantic; 11 grandchildren – Bill (Austrid), Jenny (fiancee Kenny) and Sarah Cohrs, April (Jeramie) Kane, Holly (Nick) Carlson, Jake Leighton, Amanda and Daniel (Shana) Wyman, and Kaitlynn, Bailey and Dawson Walter; - and 12 great grandchildren with another on the way. Also surviving are sisters and brother - Betty Jane (Duane) Anderson of Lewis, Judy (Gary) Ireland of Iowa Falls, IA and Rick Sanny of Lewis.


Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Lewis United Congregational Methodist Church in Lewis. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery at Lewis. Open visitation is at the Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold and the family will be present from 3:00 to 5:00 Saturday afternoon.
