Hartfield
July 10, 1952 – May 8, 2025
Luke Hartfield went to be with the Lord on May 8, 2025, in Clarinda, Iowa surrounded by a loving family. He was born in Doylestown Pennsylvania on July 10, 1952. He spent most of his life at the Glenwood Resource Center in Glenwood, Iowa, following a childhood illness that caused severe brain damage. Luke enjoyed the outdoors, participated in the Special Olympics speed walk and soft ball throw. He also loved trips to the Lauritzen Gardens and was a big fan of Rock & Roll music. He had a radiant smile and the heart of a lion.
Luke is survived by four siblings: Patrick Hartfield, Docker and Ellen Hartfield, Michelle Hartfield & significant other Robert Woods, and Ardith Shaw Boeck; first cousins Anthony, Elfrieda and Melinda Reffuge and Frank and Catherine Belsito as well as several nieces and nephews.
Luke is preceded in death by his parents; George and Elfrieda "Lee" (Patrick) Hartfield Shaw, Frederick Wellman Shaw Jr., his maternal grandparents Dr. Luke and Elfrieda (Weight) Patrick, his paternal grandparents George Jr. and Irene (Ivans) Hartfield, nephew George Hartfield, Great Niece Justice Johnson, Brother-in-Law Christopher Boeck, and Sister-in-Law Georgia Ann Hartfield.
Following a private Celebration of Life, at the Rieken Duhn Funeral Home, on May 21, 2025, Luke will be intered at the Griswold Cemetery.
Luke's family wish to express heartfelt gratitude for all the caregivers who provided such tender loving care to Luke over the years. We are forever in your debt.
May Luke rest in peace, run with joy, and be forever free in the arms of Jesus.
