Lovella Jean Tye's Obituary
Lovella Jean Tye, the daughter of Herman and Lydia (Alff) Willms, was born April 5, 1930 in Lewis, IA. She died March 22, 2017 at the Griswold Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Griswold, IA, at the age of 86 years, 11 months, and 17 days.
Lovella graduated from Griswold High School with the class of 1947. On August 22, 1947, she was united in marriage to Byron Tye at the Lutheran Parsonage in Griswold. Two children were born to this union, Keith and Kathy. They moved to the family farm, and Lovella and Bryon farmed for many years.
Lovella was a member of the Griswold Faith Lutheran Church. She had been an active member of the Wright Township Club and the Young Mothers Club. She enjoyed reading, doing crosswords, bowling, journaling, and watching soap operas. She and Byron had liked to go camping and travel, which included a trip to Hawaii and an Alaskan cruise.
Lovella is preceded in death by her husband Byron on April 15, 2010; her parents; and her brother Dale.
She is survived by her children, Keith Tye and wife Peggy of Council Bluffs, IA, and Kathy Jensen and husband Mark of Shelby, IA; her grandchildren: Wendy Adelson and husband Craig of Omaha, NE, Rebecca Tye of Omaha, NE, Ryan Tye and wife Jessica of Byron, MN, Aaron Jensen of Omaha, NE, Kevin Jensen and wife Jessica of Lima, OH, and Brianna Culbertson and husband David of Iowa City, IA; and eleven great grandchildren. She is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 1:30 PM at the Faith Lutheran Church in Griswold. Interment will be in the Whipple Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Friday evening from 5-7 PM at the Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold. Memorials may be given to the Faith Lutheran Church or the Whipple Cemetery. Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is in charge of arrangements.
